About Me

I am a USPTA Certified Instructor with the completion of courses during annual and regional conferences: TAUT Methods and Development, High Performance Development, Leadership Strategy, Video Analysis, Doubles Strategy Coaching, Stroke Production, Progression approach. I'm also a NCHS coach n a USTA TAZ instructor.

Teaching Style

When I teach I emphasize the enjoyment of the game. I believe that when you are having fun your body and mind are more in tune for learning. I teach in the progression approach, starting easy and simple progressing to hard and complex tasks. I believe in working the problem together where the student discovers the mistake (feels and sees the error) and we both find a solution together.

Student Feedback

Tino has been an amazing coach to help me gain proper tennis technique. He broke down lessons into digestible pieces, and taught me different drills that served as building blocks for my game. Would definitely recommend him as a coach!

Hermela N. - September 13, 2019

I came to Tino with very little to no experience playing tennis. In 6 lessons, I learned so much. Tino is very focused on correct form and technique, and patient while I struggled through hand eye coordination. I progressed an incredible amount in those 6 lessons and am thankful that I got started with Tino!

It’s been a pleasure watching our 12 year old grandchildren learn to play tennis this week under Tino’s excellent instruction. They’ve learned proper technique while also learning to love the game of tennis. Tino provided them with just the right balance between fun and work ethic in order to be successful. After a total of 10 hours of instruction both kids asked if they could visit us again next summer for tennis lessons with Tino. We highly recommend Tino for any child (or adult) at any level.

Tino is an amazing instructor. Within 5 minutes, the boys were laughing and having a great time with their lesson. Tino is passionate and enjoys working with anyone regardless of their skill level. I highly recommend Tino!

Tino has been an excellent coach. He does an excellent job of simplifying the instructions for each stroke and then identifying even the smallest of ways that I might be off in my technique. Tino is also skilled at both correcting and encouraging. I have learned a ton with him and hope to learn more.

Tino was a great teacher. Professional and easy to work with. My son had never played tennis before and after 6 lessons he's got a good forehand and backhand.

We have enjoyed Tino!!! He showed up on time and is very knowledgeable.

Nora K. - August 20, 2014

Tino is a masterful teacher. And I don't throw "masterful" around that often. This is our third time taking lessons from him and he has truly revolutionized our experience of playing tennis. No matter what level you're at, he can take you further, make it engaging and fun and he is realistic about your ability level and gives do-able homework assignments.

You can tell from the first lesson, that Tino has a great passion and knowledge of tennis. He is kind, and a good teacher. You can rely on him to help your tennis game grow!

Ben H. - March 22, 2016

Tino is an excellent coach who customizes the teaching techniques to suit the player. He focuses on improving the overall game which includes the footwork and the striking technique for the various types of shots. He has helped me improve my game a lot and I would highly recommend him as a coach.

I have never had a tennis lesson before and didn't know what to expect. Wow! I had no idea how much there is to know. I'm really excited to up my game. I definitely felt challenged, but not discouraged.

Kim N. - August 6, 2016

He's a great teacher.

Melissa - August 11, 2016

Tino was a fantastic teacher! As a beginner (and adult), I appreciated both his patience and technical approach to instruction. Every lesson started with an explanation and demonstration of a particular swing, followed by extensive practice. I liked the fact that he was able to critique my performance without sounding critical. It felt authentic and was also very helpful.

After a few months, I improved tremendously and now feel confident enough to play with other people. I really enjoyed the lessons and look forward to taking more lessons with Tino next Spring.

Linda B. - October 26, 2016

Highly recommend Tino! After a long hiatus from tennis, I wanted to get back into the sport but knew I needed to re-learn the fundamentals to play it well. Tino taught me exactly what I needed to know to pick up the sport again and make progress fast. He understands the most important mechanics and works with you to correct flaws while making it fun along the way. After six lessons, I feel confident in my fundamentals and am very grateful I found an instructor like Tino to get me over the hump.
