Hey! My name is Ava. I'm 20-years-old and I've been playing tennis for as long as I can remember. The sport has brought me so many incredible opportunities and connections, and has taught me many life lessons. For the majority of middle school and high school, I was home schooled and competed in USTA, ITF, and Tennis Europe tournaments. Once starting college, I continued my career at the University of Tampa on the Women's Varsity tennis team. I've had the pleasure of working with many incredible coaches, who have each contributed to my knowledge and skill about the game, and I love passing on this knowledge to others! I have been coaching for about four years now with OTI (online tennis instruction) which has focused mainly on training adult players preparing for league matches. Nothing makes me happier than seeing someone's face after grasping a concept that completely changes their game for the better. Join me so I can help do the same for you! I would love to help you take your game to the next level.
Depending on the level of the student, my lessons typically center around either technique or strategy. I alter my lessons depending on if the student has a competition coming up or if they would prefer to slow things down and work on more technical aspects. I always strive for input from the player, while also evaluating their game myself through film and observation.
I start off with a warm up and a series of injury prevention exercises. Followed by rallying (and occasionally film). Then based on the film and what the player needs to work on, I feed a series of basket drills to work on specifics, and then we slowly work our way into rallying and point play. While working on something new it is very important to slow things down so you do not revert back to old habits! This is the benefit of basket drills.

I have been working with Ava for a couple months now and I have seen and felt dramatic improvements from hitting like a baseball player to emulating Federer. She is extremely knowledgeable, very good at identifying issues, suggesting corrections and drills, and keeping it enjoyable. Lots of times, learning new things is frustrating and tedious, but quite the opposite with Ava. Use her! :)
Having worked with Ava and seen her teach and coach I highly recommend her to anyone who is not only looking for a strong hitting partner but also looking to get better. Ava has experience competing at a high level with extensive knowledge of both the technical and tactical components of the game.
