About Me

Competitive Career:
I picked up my first tennis racquet and stepped on to my first tennis court at the age of 12. I was able to leverage hand-eye coordination skills learned from playing little-league baseball and footwork abilities learned from playing youth soccer to quickly develop into a competitive player. I slowly began to fall in love with the game and decided to take my abilities further by training regularly with professional tennis instructors. By age 14, I had positioned myself to perform well in USTA tournaments and in high school varsity tennis. Throughout my high school career, I trained 5 days per week and competed in tournaments on the weekends in the off-season that contributed to my successes against USTA-ranked opponents in singles, doubles, and team competitions at the state and regional levels. At the collegiate level, I chose to continue my tennis career at Penn State by competing in USTA tournaments, tennis club competitions, and fraternity tournaments. Upon graduating college, I regularly play in several tennis leagues and tournaments outside of my professional engineering job.

Teaching Career:
I began teaching tennis lessons at age 16 for One Love Kids Tennis in Cape May, NJ. For roughly 12 weeks throughout the summer, I taught groups of children ages 4-17 twice per week for 4 consecutive summers. I learned how to create a positive, fun, and welcoming environment while adapting my teaching styles to benefit the various skill levels and capabilities of a diverse group of young players. It was a very enjoyable, satisfying experience to watch the players grow, develop, and love the game overtime. Many of these players later joined their successfully made their varsity high school tennis teams and competed in high-level tournaments.

After graduating college, I began teaching private lessons in Arlington, VA to individuals and groups of all ages (8-60), skill levels, and backgrounds. After two years, I accumulated 15 regular clients; many of whom were focused on developing the skills needed to be top-level high school players, college players, and tournament/league players. In August of 2024, I moved here to Towson, MD, and brought with me my passion for the game and years of tennis couching experience. I want to continue to develop players to be the best version of themselves that they can be while doing what they love and enjoy.

Fun Facts:

- "Racquet Scientist" (Tennis Player with Degree in Aerospace Engineering).

- 8-year USTA singles and doubles Tournament Player (Pennsylvania).
- Penn State NCAA D1 Racquetball Team walk-on (tennis skills transfer well to other racquet sports!)
- Current Graduate Student at Johns Hopkins University.

Teaching Style

My goal for each lesson is to make you at least 1% better every time you play. I simplify key gameplay elements with positive reinforcement to improve players' abilities, confidence, and enjoyment of the game. I follow up after lessons with supplemental material to ingrain what was learned and can recommend ways to practice what is learned from each lesson. I work from home, so I am very flexible to time and location. I have experience teaching students at all levels ages 4-60.

I have excellent experience in helping middle school and high school players make their varsity teams and prepare them for competitive tournament play. Additionally, I utilize similar mechanics very well with current/former athletes that I can relate other sports to tennis when teaching.

I specialize in serving (power, slice, kick), net-play, and strategy. My lessons start with a warm up followed by introducing a new skill and instructing on how and when a skill should be used. For example, I would demonstrate the kick serve by showing how I utilize my footwork in conjunction with my hand-eye coordination of the racket in step-by-step fashion at a basic level to start with until eventually the student can incorporate all steps to produce the kick serve. I will then challenge the student to better their technique, speed, and confidence in their newfound skills by ending each lesson with matchplay.

I will often times send additional relevant information (video clips, lesson plans, tennis organizations/clubs) so that students may practice on and off the court between lessons.
