About Me
In 2021, I trained a college student with zero experience to an advanced beginner (NTRP 2.5) level in 4 months. I have confidence as a coach - my training involves stretching, body activation, warm up, drill progressions, point play, and introducing the mental side of tennis.
Tennis is a vital part of my life, I’ve come to realize. I feel incredibly alive when I’m on or around a tennis court. The inner child in me gets to say hello to the world again. My parents bringing us as kids to the local park to play sparked my love for tennis. It was a simple joy to be outdoors and just hit the ball around with my family. I played for my high school and intramural tennis at UC Davis. Recovering from a shoulder dislocation in 2020 taught me a lot about natural body movement.
I started to entirely rethink how I walk, run, grip a racket, and hit the ball, and even sleep! Regaining my shoulder stability came through months of PT exercises and home workouts. The tennis wall became a formidable opponent and helped me relearn and reinvent my tennis.
Teaching Style
I emphasize the following when practicing/playing:
- Pay attention to how your shoes are tied and how grip tape is applied. Stretch and warmup first.
- Chase down every ball (sharpens reaction timing and awareness of which balls are truly goners).
- Maintain eye contact on the ball to find the ideal contact point for any groundstroke or volley.
- Have both feet on the ground, if possible, when making contact with the ball (except for the serve).
- Leverage leg drive on all groundstrokes and volleys whenever possible, and always for the serve.
Through coaching, my goal is to:
1. Lead any person to pursue mastery in THEIR game of tennis
2. Share my love and appreciation of the sport with the community
3. Inspire and help develop the next generation of superstars

Vinodh is an excellent coach who is great at identifying the parts of your game that need improvement and suggests various strategies and techniques to do so. I learn something new in every class. He has helped me improve my overall game by a lot since I started working with him almost a year ago. He is patient and encouraging.
I took lessons from Vinodh earlier in 2023 when I was still living California. It was 100% a great experience. I was at a 3.5 level and he was really helpful in bringing a blend of expertise, patience, and personalized instruction. He’s great at communicating and his feedback was motivating, helping me stay engaged each session. I really appreciate that he kept it fresh by having me perform a variety of drills but at the same time (unlike a lot of other coaches) we did a lot of point play as well. We worked it out so that our session were scheduled for more than an hour which was perfect since 1 hour is too short in a lot of cases for me personally
I definitely improved a ton and I wholeheartedly recommend working with him!
