About Me
Hi, my name is Sterling. With seven years of experience coaching, I have honed my skills in teaching juniors and adults of all ages and skill levels. During my time at the Tennis Center at Pennsylvania State University, I was responsible for developing curriculum and leading large clinics, ensuring that each player received tailored instruction that matched their skill level and learning style. I specialize in guiding young players through the stages of development, from red ball to orange and green ball, and eventually transitioning them to yellow ball.
Teaching Style
My approach is rooted in concept-focused and goal-oriented development, where I emphasize understanding the key principles of the game while setting clear, achievable goals. Whether you're a beginner looking to grasp the basics or an advanced player aiming to refine your technique, my goal is to help you reach your full potential on the court.

Sterling was an incredible coach for my daughter, who was in middle school when she received coaching. Sterling imparted knowledge on various techniques, hitting with topspin, and usage of strategies during point play. He typically would start the lesson with the question, "what do you want to work on/improve today?" His patience and friendly approach really made lessons with him incredibly productive for my daughter. My daughter is now playing for the high school tennis team and owes a lot on her knowledge on techniques to Sterling.
Sterling is a great coach. Anyone planning to get their kids coached by him will be in great hands.
Sterling is an extremely talented tennis coach!! He was very good at identifying and communicating small adjustments that made a huge impact on my game. When something didn't click he would find a different way to explain or a small exercise to really highlight the muscles or motion he was trying to activate. 10/10 would highly recommend him for anyone looking to improve their skills from total beginner to advanced players. My only complaint is that he moved out of town so I can no longer train with him!
Sterling is a great tennis instructor. He worked with my 13 year old daughter and my 6 year old son…neither of which had any tennis experience. He was patient with them and taught them great tennis skills. My daughter is set to join the high school tennis team next year thanks to Sterling. My kids LOVED working him and I highly recommend him!
I have worked with Sterling for more than 4 years. I consider him to be an excellent instructor who genuinely cares about his students. He is very good at breaking down complex techniques into simple, easy-to-understand steps. His constructive feedback has helped me improve my game significantly.
I also have seen Sterling working with other tennis players with a wide range of skills. He is very patient and encouraging with all of them, while pushing to improve their skills consistently. People tend to stick with Sterling over the years as their instructor.
Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your advanced skills, I highly recommend Sterling. He will help you to take your tennis game to the next level. And, you will have fun!
