About Me

Full-time Pro at Manhattan Tennis Academy and Sutton East Tennis Club in NYC. Trained at Nick Bollettieri (Bradenton, FL.) & Harry Hopman (Tampa, FL.)

Teaching Style

Teach all ages/skill levels and great with children. I'm super friendly and love playing and teaching tennis. It's brings me so much joy when I can teach a student not only to love the sport of tennis, but also when they learn a new skill. During the lesson, we'll first learn the basics, and then move into focus areas for certain skills such as the forehand, backhand, volley, overhead, and serve. Whether it be to learn the ins and outs of tennis, to enhance a skill, to get a good workout, keep your kids busy, or to just have fun, I have the tennis experience and skills to help you and your family achieve your goals. I look forward to working with you.

To whom this may concern:

My 10-year-old son has significant special needs which include a motor planning disorder, as well as having attentional issues and learning disabilities. He has attended Buckley Country Day Camp with a One to One Teacher Assistant for the past four years. My son has been taking tennis lessons during the school year, as well as at camp. This past summer, my son worked with Sean as his tennis coach. I spoke with Coach Sean and explained my son's situation. He was completely agreeable to any accommodations my son needed in order to be successful. He watched videos of how my son had worked with previous coaches. Mr. Hapler quickly implemented strategies of pairing multi-sensory instructions, that is, he provided simultaneous visual, auditory, and tactile input. For my son, tennis provides motor planning exercises and attention exercise, as well as socialization opportunities. Mr. Halper was extremely open-minded, patient, encouraging, supportive, playful, optimistic, and happy when he worked with my son. Camp has been over for three months now, but my son continues to talk about "Sean" and some of the inside jokes they shared.

I fully recommend Coach Sean. He does more than is required and demonstrates that he truly cares about people as individuals.

“Graham just had his yorkville class with Shawn and it’s probably one of the best yorkville lessons he’s had, Shawn was fantastic, high energy, great direction and choice of drills and general style really impressed me. Wanted to recognize him for his efforts“
