I am full-time into tennis training and use the analytics-based approach to examine the player to understand their level and then train them to build upon their tennis skills. I have trained more than 20,000 students and my passion and dedication toward the sport makes them work more and more to excel in the game. I teach students at all levels from 3 years old to high school to college level to 92 years old.
Teaching Style
I teach using all the different learning styles, visual verbal and kinetic. I use an analytics-based approach, which is personable, focused and give you 100 percent. Amazing tennis knowledges. Robert not only teaches the techniques, but also the practical strategy to win. Eye opening experience. Thanks.
Coach Allen has been a great coach for my daughter. He has helped her with the strategy of the game and understanding when and how to use each stroke during a match. His lessons are fun and educational. She always leaves a lesson feeling more confident.
I have been working with Coach Robert Gibson on and off since I was 5 years old through the City of Raleigh Tennis Program. I just recently started working with him more frequently this past year. He has been a tremendous help to my game, and he is not only a tennis coach but a nutritionist, mentor, and physical trainer.
Robert is an excellent tennis instructor for all tennis levels - patient, encouraging, excellent communicator, etc. I have seen significant improvement in my tennis game from my time working with Robert. Highly recommended.
Coach Robert is by far THE BEST coach I have every worked with. He has 10,000 hours of lessons in his repository and I have never seen a repetition of a lesson. He just keeps building on something new. In every lesson, he would pick a stroke to work on; he would teach me the stroke and correct it frame by frame until I did it right. He wants his students, including me, to perfect the stroke at 80% to excel on the stroke. He quotes the strokes by making me picture them in my mind. He labels the strokes that I hit the best so that I can use them over and over again. He has an interesting approach. He does not overcome the bad habits, but builds new strokes and pictures so that the bad habits are no longer in use. Coach Robert is very analytical. He simulates tennis to the laws of physics and mathematics (geometry). Coach Robert makes his tennis training educational. He emphasizes on writing my lessons in a tennis journal (like we all do or did in school). This is very unique since I can write down what I learned and then read it before going into a match. It is magical how we can read and bring up a picture before we go on the court and then execute it. I have worked on strokes with him using a radar gun to learn the speed & power of my play. He introduced me to his Boomer which is an analytics-based ball machine and it even talks and judges my strokes to be a "great shot" or a "weak shot." He emphasizes the importance of staying fit with cardio tennis, exercise, stretching, nutrition and hydration. His facility in Cary is his personal court in his backyard and it is a beautiful facility. This gives me flexibility to book a time that works for both him and for me. I have learned a lot with Coach Robert and hope to continue learning from his expertise to continue playing this lifelong sport. To me, he is a treasure, and I recommend him to all tennis players who are lucky enough to live in the same town as him. Why lose the opportunity to learn this sport from him? Thank you Robert for being my tennis coach!
