About Me
Hi, my name is Oscar. I'm originally from San Diego, CA, and grew up playing year round in the juniors. I also played a little in college and finally took the dive and taught at the Balboa Tennis Club as well as private lessons. By 2005 I found the woman of my dreams and married and moved to the island of enchantment, a.k.a. Puerto Rico, where I honed my bilingual skills and enjoyed playing and teaching in the Caribbean sun. I now live in Northern Virginia where I have the privilege of getting to know and experience another part of the world.
Teaching Style
I definitely take the approach that tennis or any sport, whether it is recreational or competitive, should be as enjoyable/rewarding as it is challenging. I believe in building up the person yet giving an honest assessment of the progress. For me, the ultimate goal is health in all its forms.

Oscar did a great job coaching my two children, ages 9 and 11. They are great athletes, but hadn't played tennis. He taught them how to keep score, serve, and return the ball in only a small number of lessons at an hour each. He was a great communicator and very willing to accommodate changes in schedules. The kids enjoyed him as a person, which is really the most important component in getting children to listen/learn. I would definitely recommend Oscar as an instructor!
