About Me
When I teach it's not about me, it's about you. Together, we can take on the challenges this game presents and get you to achieve your goals, then move onto the next one. Hopefully, we'll have a few giggles along the way. I am a lifelong player. I played four years of satellites and pro events in Europe after high school.
I'm a USPTA certified professional. I taught at a club for 20 years before choosing to begin t!eaching independently for the past ten years.
I am also an Instructor for UCBerkeley. I have been teaching since 1992.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is built around what's best for each individual I work with. I don't use a 'cookie-cutter' method. I help each student reach his or her potential in a way that he or she can relate to. Nobody is like anybody else, why should your lessons be?

Napoléon is a great instructor. He explains skills clearly and makes them achievable. He's also encouraging but isn't afraid to point out areas for improvement because he believes in your potential. I've had the pleasure of working with him for almost three months, and it's been a fantastic investment!
Napoleon is a great instructor with lots of experience. He clearly explains concepts and helped me understand a lot of fundamental pieces of tennis. I improved a ton over my lessons.
My first lesson with Napoleon generated many great foundational insights and technical suggestions, which is what I had hoped for. I was able to quickly understand what Napoleon suggested and was excited to see the positive effects even during the lesson. I’m looking forward to drilling these new habits so they become an ingrained part of my game. Nap offers a nice combination of the best next tip with opportunities to instill it during the lesson so one remembers what to do when practicing on one’s own.
Nap is the best coach ever! I’ve only had a few experiences with coaches but he takes the cake! Timely, professional and easy to understand. He goes through the coaching process tailored to your experience and reworks prior learned bad skills and fixes them. He uses examples to make tennis relatable and breaks down techniques into simple concepts. I am finding that I am learning lessons that I can use on and off the court. Playing tennis is life!!!
Exactly the instruction I needed right now. Highly recommend Napolean!
He was able to pinpoint a couple areas to work on very quickly and give me specific instruction on how to maintain those changes after the lesson. Very happy with results and looking forward to next week.
Napoleon is wise. He's fun to learn from. Sign on with him if you want to improve your game quickly.
I hadn't played tennis in a long time so I was unsure how it would feel to take up the game again. Napoleon has been great. Very patient, given me very helpful feedback, and obviously loves tennis. I have thoroughly enjoyed my lessons, and especially like Napoleon's sense of humor, which he certainly needed at first!
I had not played tennis in 40 years and was very nervous. After my first lesson with Napoleon, I can't wait for my second! He has great advice and is very patient.
