About Me

Mike, born and raised in Mount Vernon, started playing tennis in 8th grade, which is relatively late compared to many. Not letting his late start affect his ambition, Mike set a goal to play high school tennis. After two short years of dedicating himself to improving, he was appointed captain of Salesian High School’s tennis team. As captain, he held a 36-1 record. After graduating high school, Mike accepted an athletic scholarship to play NCAA Division II tennis at Southern New Hampshire University, an amazing accomplishment deserved due to his hard work. Known for his strong leadership skills, he was determined to become the captain of his college team. Once captain, he led his team to the first conference championship & NCAA appearance in university history. Throughout college, he reached a school milestone of earning 100 collegiate wins and numerous doubles titles. Mike has credited his serve for most of his doubles success; a serve that has reached 125+ M.P.H!

Mike Wallace has worked at some of Westchester's most prestigious country clubs including: Westchester Country Club, Larchmont Shore Club, Fairview Country Club, & New York Athletic Club. Currently, Mike is leaving the Tennis Innovator Academy, Westchester's most prestigious tennis academy for high performance tennis. After sending children to college with academic scholarships, Mike Wallace is ready to bring his talents to MyTennisLessons.com. With an outstanding background as a collegiate player, numerous ITF tournaments, and 10+ years of teaching experience, Mike Wallace brings both his passion and his expertise to the court, helping you believe & achieve!

Teaching Style

REACH OUT TO ME IF THESE SOUND FAMILIAR! -- "Don't Jump", "Stay Down", "Bring Your Racket Back". These tennis myths are commonly said by two types of tennis coaches. Firstly, the tennis coach that is teaching the 'old school' style of tennis. Tennis has changed over the past 30 years-- with the evolution of larger and more aerodynamic rackets, the game has changed...DRASTICALLY. Secondly, the coaches that lack the playing/coaching experience of tennis on the highest level. I have the playing & coaching experience to be able to break down these myths & much more while maintaining a fun environment.

One size does NOT fit all, therefore each lesson is structured around your individual needs.

P.S. I am great with kids that are just learning the sport. I have turned a 9 year old child that has never picked up a tennis racket into a recent tournament competitor in 25 hours. There is no doubt at this rate she will attain a college scholarship.

Coach Mike is FABULOUS!
Extremely professional, well-mannered, patient & understanding. Mike always brings enthusiasm, charisma, and a warm smile to the court. Mike is also very willing to accommodate to the individual.

For example on the first lesson, he asked me what my goals were. Then, he tailored a lesson plan to those goals. He did not stop there, but later that night, he proposed lesson plans based off my goals for the entire series of our 12 lessons.

The biggest take away from Coach Mike, “It’s okay to fail; You have to fail in order to succeed.” Coach Mike has created situations for me to fail safely, in order to learn how to master specific shots.

P.S. He is also VERY attractive.
