About Me
Hi, my name is Michelle! I'm currently a rising senior in high school and love tennis. In regards to my own experience, I've been playing the sport for 8 years and have been competing for 6 out of that 8. My highest UTR ranking was a 9 for singles and 8.6 for doubles. I haven't been competing as much since my junior year, but I still play for my high school team, of which I'm the captain of for my varsity team. I don't have much experience with coaching students in tennis, but I have volunteered as a coach for special needs kids and also tutored at Kumon, so I'm pretty confident in my abilities to work with kids.
Teaching Style
I'm pretty confident in teaching everything on the court since I have played competitively for so long. I would emphasize both form and practice, which means I would first drill my student a bit so that their form is structured, and then start hitting with them if they are at that level. I would give them plenty of breaks in between if necessary, because overworking younger students isn't the way to make tennis seem fun. I think I would definitely utilize my ability to hit tennis and play out points with students since that's what entertained me when I was receiving lessons.
