About Me
Hello, my name is Kendrick. I've been playing tennis since I was a young boy, and it's always been a passion of mine. As I grew older and found that I had a love of teaching that matched my love of the sport, I knew that being an instructor was in my future. Most of my tennis-playing life was spent in Georgia, where I was a multi-year GHSA State Champ. After high school, I spent several years as an assistant coach at several different high schools while participating in leagues and tournaments all over the state. Once I settled back down, I worked as an event organizer for my local tennis club, and gave a few lessons here and there on the side.
Teaching Style
My lessons always emphasize understanding and acting. Making sure that my students know why they're doing what they're doing, and showing them exactly how it helps them to improve helps to foster a deeper connection between their actions and their knowledge of the sport. There should be no wasted effort, with everything the student does being a part of the lesson in some way.
Additionally, I prefer an "act, then review" model of learning. Letting a student make a decision, see how their actions play out, and then reviewing with them why something happened, whether it was intentional, and whether it should or should not continue.
