About Me
Hello, my name is Jorge. I'm from Colombia (yes I speak Spanish and English fluently) and I was the captain of my NCAA college tennis team for four years.
After my college studies, I coached tennis at IMG Academy, home of some of the best tennis players in the world including Andre Agassi, Serena Williams, Kei Nishikori, and Maria Sharapova. I learned from the best coaches in the world in the most competitive tennis training environment you can imagine. Coaches and students eat, breath, and sleep tennis. If you really want to learn advanced tennis technique and improve your game, I have the experience to help you achieve your goals.
In addition, I have a minor in strength and conditioning and I personally designed my college team's strength and conditioning workouts. I believe a strong athletic foundation is key to start building your game.
If you still have doubts, I have a Master's from the School of Education at UNC Chapel Hill that has helped me develop instructional skills to teach students through multiple different research-based strategies in the learning sciences.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is structured in the following way:
- First: Evaluation and identification of strengths and weaknesses in technique, strategy, and movement. I want to get to know you, your technique, and your motivation. The better I get to know you, the better I'll be able to personalize the training and know how to make you reach your full potential.
- Second: We (yes, we both) create a plan to achieve the goals you want to achieve with me as your coach. We can work on multiple goals and objectives depending on your level of commitment.
- Third: We will work (very hard) in order to achieve these goals. I will personally create lessons that will fit your needs and will help you grow as a tennis player.
- Fourth: We re-evaluate your game and modify your training needs in order to achieve new and more challenging goals.
I want my students to have a growth mindset and believe that they can always reach the next level if they work hard and have discipline always in mind.
