About Me
I am a former four-year varsity high school tennis player and competed at a junior college before returning to my high school to coach the boy’s team for two years. I have many years of experience coaching and teaching tennis to students from ages 5 through 75. I was a coach for the Mommy, Daddy and Me Tennis program and implement many of its teaching techniques in my lessons. My mission is to promote tennis to all segments of our community.
Teaching Style
Keep it simple. I emphasize proper stroke mechanics and techniques through feel and supervised drills. I believe in proper physical conditioning in order to instruct efficient footwork and movement on the tennis court. My lessons focus on helping the student to become aware of his or her strengths and weaknesses. I structure each lesson to maximize each player's potential to become their best.

I was in LA for vacation and wanted to make sure I was getting enough exercise in while having fun. I had been wanting to get back to playing tennis, a sport I grew up with but hadn't played much of in recent years. I was fortunate to have found John Nguyen to hit with. He understood my goals well and was patient while I found my rhythm and groundstrokes, and then gradually while doing drills and rallies. Through it all, John gave great advice, from stretching exercises before playing, strength training outside the court, and improving my timing, footwork, strokes, and volleys. He knew when to push and when to ease up, and constantly checking how I was and probing how far to take it. His communications skills are very good and personally traits excellent. I'll definitely contact him when I'm back in LA.
