About Me
Hi. I'm Jeff Webb.
30 years coaching. Thousands of students across three continents. USPTA-certified. Former D1 player at Baylor. Author of How to Beat Your Dad at Tennis, Amazon
I am a skill acquisition specialist working from the Constraints-Led Approach (CLA) and ecological dynamics, the same training science behind the development of Shohei Ohtani and Victor Wembanyama, behind modern Australian and European sports academies, and behind 20 years of peer-reviewed motor learning research that has quietly become the consensus among the people who actually study how athletes learn.
One of the few coaches in the Pacific Northwest specializing in this framework. If you've been taught tennis the standard American way, "step, turn, swing, finish," what I do will look unfamiliar at first. Then it will start to make sense. Then it will start to work, and it will keep working long after the lesson ends.
My rate reflects what you're getting. I am not selling you ongoing lessons. I am trying to make myself unnecessary as fast as possible.
Teaching Style
One hour with me does not look like one hour with another pro. I will be completely different and it will work.
I do not break the stroke into pieces. I do not say "turn your shoulders" or "watch the ball." Those instructions have been studied for 50 years and the research is consistent: they don't transfer to match play. They produce players who hit beautifully on a ball machine and fall apart on Saturday morning.
Instead, I design the right practice environment and let your body solve the problem. Ball direction, spin, depth, court constraint, target shape, partner behavior. These are the tools. Your brain solves faster than I could ever explain, and the learning sticks because you found it yourself.
What you get:
Honest feedback. I'll tell you what I see, including what other coaches won't say.
Speed. My goal with adult students is five lessons or fewer. Most coaches sell you a subscription. I'm trying to give you back your Saturdays.
Real transfer. What we build in a lesson shows up in your next match. That's the only metric that matters.
If you want a cheerleader, I'm not your guy. If you want to actually get better, faster, using the same science that produced the most innovative athletes of this generation, I might be.

Jeff is really great with my 9 yr old daughter! He is engaging, fun and makes the lessons exciting and entertaining. He adds some science and physics while explaining how the ball flies, lands, etc. He's also really encouraging and has enhanced my daughter's self-confidence on the tennis court. I'd recommend him to anyone - I think he'd be just as fabulous with adults as he is with a 9 yr old. Thanks for a wonderful first tennis lesson experience!
Jeff is very explicit about demonstrating and helping to learn the correct stroke. He is patient and easy to talk to. I am learning a lot!
Jeff is great to work with! Highly recommended!
Looking for an experienced coach to work with my teenage daughter, I found Jeff on this site. We both feel lucky. She has had a few sessions, and after every one she comes back feeling that she learned a lot. New skills from a good teacher has increased her enthusiasm for tennis. Highly recommended!
Jeff is an amazing tennis instructor! He teaches our two 6-year olds and they have improved dramatically in just a few lessons. He is very creative with the activities they do to keep them interested and having fun. He is very personable and easy going and our kids love him. I would definitely recommend Jeff to anyone looking to improve their tennis game! We will continue to use his services for our kids and for ourselves as well.
Jeff has a gift for teaching children tennis, making it so much fun that the children don't even realize they're developing high level tennis skills, and becoming all-around athletes too! Jeff has taught my children for many years now. Anyone looking for tennis instruction for any age and any ability should call Jeff first!
Jeff called the same day I submitted my interest and arranged to meet that same day to give my 10 and 13 year old lessons. I was amazed how quickly he was able to discern two very different strengths and how he was still able to coach to both of their needs without missing a beat. Both kids gave him 5 starts afterwards too. Thanks Jeff!
He worked well with my schedule and was always prepared for our lessons. I enjoyed the drills and learned a ton.
My wife and I were beginners when we started taking lessons from Jeff. He was patient and very skilled at teaching us the fundamentals. I look forward to taking more advanced lessons from him when our skills progress. He is a not only a professional player, but also a professional teacher. We both highly recommend him for teaching all levels of game.
