About Me

Hi, my name is Jason and I am originally from Detroit, MI. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2001 with a B.A. in Communication with high honors. After graduation, I taught high school English and coached boy’s varsity Tennis in Okemos, MI. A lifelong tennis player, I starting teaching tennis in high school and turned that into a small tennis teaching business in college, 'Kromirs Court.'

Outside of tennis, my professional career has taken me all over the country as a youth director, special events director, fundraising professional, director of a non-profit and my current position as a Licensed Realtor focusing on DC and Montgomery County, MD.

I AM LEFT HANDED AND SPECIALIZE IN COACHING LEFTY'S - BUT I WILL TAKE ANY CLIENT ON!!!

My tennis teaching philosophy of education evolved from years of being a teacher and learner. Reflecting on my belief regarding teaching and learning, I work collaboratively with the ‘whole student’ to promote positive learning, solid work ethic to spark enthusiasm for tennis and to provide strong foundations for the game of tennis he is so passionate about!

I hold four professional certifications: Sports Management from Georgetown University, Camp Director from American Camping Association, Medication Technician and Executive Coach from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC). As a Certified Executive Coach, I work with individuals and businesses to achieve their full potential in their professional and personal relationships. My coaching expertise focuses on leadership development, career counseling, youth empowerment, excellence in customer service, sales and effective communication skills.

I am married with 2 children. I am CPR and First Aid trained.

Teaching Style

My teaching niche has been young children but am capable and comfortable working with adult learners as well. For a typical 60 minute lesson, we stretch, focus of the strokes to train (i.e. serve / forehand, backhand, etc.), work on overall conditioning and fitness, discuss tennis strategy and apply the skills learning in a game or two, time permitting. Past and current students have praised my patience, listening skills, communication with parents (if teaching children) and attention to detail. I am very fast to respond to respond to calls, e-mails and texts to schedule my lesson! I always show up on time or early and provide the tennis balls.

My daughter was home from college last summer and wanted to get better at tennis. A friend recommend Jason and it was a great decision. She tried out for her college team but ended up making the 'club team' - the part of her game that improved the most was the mental aspect thanks to his teaching...and her net game as well. You cannot go wrong with Jason as a teacher.

Jason taught my 8 year old the basics of the game. My son loved him and would always ask for more play time with Jason, which meant more lessons. There's not enough positive things i can say about him!

Having taken up tennis late in life, Jason helped me go from novice to a 3.0 player. Jason is lefty and so am I so it was easy for him to show me how to put slice on serve and drop shots. He was always early and had a positive attitude and pushed me to do my best!

Jason taught my 14 year old son the basics of the games starting when we was 10. Jason was patient, fun and totally improved my sons game - now he's a playing varsity at his high school. A great coach!
