About Me

I am currently a Software Engineer working in the King of Prussia Area, looking to teach tennis in my free time. I earned my B.S. in Computational Data Science at Penn State University in May and l started playing tennis at the age of 7. I have been playing local/national tournaments for the past 6 years and have been ranked no.1 within the Allegheny Mountain region for 4 years. At the age of 13, I decided to pursue my passion in tennis and I began to teach. Throughout my teaching experiences, I have taught players at all levels whether it be improving their game to the next level or just trying out a new sport. I am comfortable teaching all ages as I have taught those from the age of 5 to those of the age of 70.

Teaching Style

As an all-court player, I am comfortable teaching any shot or stroke, whether you have a one-hander or two-hander. In terms of my teaching style, I am very flexible on what to emphasize. Every players has their own goals for the game and I want to help them reach those goals. For the most part, I try to emphasize on my student's weaknesses and that goes beyond just hitting the ball. Footwork is a commonly ignored aspect which is probably the most important in tennis. Overall, it is important for me to adjust my lesson accordingly. For a beginner, I may choose to hand feed and teach them the basic strokes. For more advanced players, I may do drills for accuracy or placement. For the younger students, I always incorporate fun ways or games so they are also having fun while learning. In terms of the structure of my lessons, I always begin with some type of stretching and warm up to get you loose. After that, the lesson will be filled with drills and games etc.

Ivan was great. He was very friendly and very helpful. He was able to tailor the lesson to the kind of learning that worked best for me and wasn't stuck on doing some specific set of drills he had already mapped out. Even though I am just starting out, he was able to make me feel successful in the lesson and feel like I could keep up.
