About Me

Hi! My name is Hannah and I'm a IU Kelley student at IU Indianapolis. I'm involved in IUI's club travel tennis team, as we traveled to Dayton, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Bloomington for tournaments.

Teaching Style

Over the years of playing tennis, I know a variety of drills and techniques that have helped me. For an example, serving was my weakness for a long time. I was taught several ways, and once I found a way that helped me, all the drills that I have learned have helped me put it piece by piece together. I understand how difficult all these concept can be challenging for a beginner to learn, but I would say I'm pretty strong in organizing a workout plan. Understanding a players strengths and weakness.
Form, grip, footwork/agility/speed, are all important in doing well in tennis. How I would structure my lessons is doing a 10-15 minute warmup with a couple laps, dynamic stretches, and racket drills to warmup the forearms as well. For a beginner, I would like to focus each session on one or two particular aspects like forehands and backhands. During that time, I would first have them do cone and agility ladder drills. Then teach them the correct form and I have drills that I have learned over the years to assist in that. Lastly, is helping them putting footwork and their forehand/backhand together. I can help accomodate as needed for the player as well. At the end, I would play a fun game drill because them having fun is important for them to continue playing. Then the next couple sessions would be helping in serve, and overtime when they are comfortable we can work on slices, chops. volleys,etc.
