About Me

I offer both tennis lessons and hitting partner sessions to players in Atascadero, Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo area.

I grew up in Russia and I started to play tennis when I was 10 years old. I have experience playing competitively in Russian, European and American Junior tournaments. I moved to United States of America when I was 16-years-old to advance my tennis level at Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai. I then was accepted to play D-1 college tennis at Cal State University Northridge for 4 years. I have over 12 years of competitive playing experience.

As a tennis coach, I have 10 years of professional experience. My home town has a tennis academy I work there as a coach, running specialized clinics for youth and adults. When I moved here I started to work in the tennis clinics/academies and do private tennis lessons and hitting sessions. I have experience teaching players of different age from toddlers to senior adults with different skill levels. With my Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and in progress doctorate degree in physical therapy, I know a lot about body movement and fitness. I can also help you improve your overall fitness level, endurance, strength and cardio and just help you become a stronger player. I'm excited to help all my players improve their game style, ground strokes and simply have a fun workout.

Teaching Style

My tennis lessons are structured based on the individual's experience and ability. For players with no or little experience, I start off with the basic exercises. We first will learn the proper technique of forehand and backhand strokes. I will show you the correct racket grip, body movement and positioning on the court. We will learn all stroke techniques and after we will focus on learning more complex movements such as serving and volleying.
For players with more experience, I will start the first lesson by examining your game and your strokes for about 30 minutes. This will allow me to see your strength and weaknesses and will help me find what things we need to work on first. For high level players, we will focus more on drills, live ball games and rallies that will help the player improve his/her tennis game.

I have been wanting to get back into tennis since taking a break in college. I found Liza through mutual friends and have been impressed with her professionalism and patience. I have been working with her since January of this year and I can see the improvements in my game! She gives clear instructions and good feedback in technique. I highly recommend her!
