About Me

Hi, my name is Edwin! I am a Safe Play approved, PTR Level 1 Certified Tennis Instructor with experience coaching children ages 6-11 and adults 18+. I work part-time for the Chicago District Tennis Association (USTA/Midwest Section) where I am a lead coach for their Tennis 101 programs and Cardio Tennis classes. I began playing tennis in 2014, and I am proud to say that I went from knowing nothing about the sport to playing competitively at the 3.5.-4.0 level. My tennis journey inspired me to develop my coaching education. I am an educator at heart, having spent six years in academia where I honed my skills in curriculum building, lesson planning, advising, time-management, and communication. These are skills that I now apply on the tennis court! My goal is to provide effective tennis lessons to people of all age groups, while also contributing to the next generation of coaching.

Teaching Style

I specialize in technical development and fitness training tailored for tennis. I like to provide clear and structured instructions while demonstrating drills and providing useful feedback. Every lesson includes a warm-up and fun, competitive games to teach tennis concepts while improving tennis skills and building athleticism. I believe that every player is unique and has their own goals, and I make sure to create an environment tailored to meet each player's expectations.
