About Me
Hi, my name is David. I was a top ranked junior tennis player in South Africa and played Division I college tennis for the University of Miami from 1990 to 1993. I am married and have 3 children who are all high level junior tennis players. I own a business and work from 8 to 3:30 and thereafter I spend my afternoons teaching tennis lessons. I have also coached youth soccer and flag football for many years, and am comfortable working with children. I have taught players from beginners to advanced. I also string racquets and will provide professional racquet stringing service cheaper than local retailers.
Teaching Style
I have a knack for pointing out little tips that help my students understand what it is I am trying to get them to do. Technique is a critical component of being able to play tennis, but so is footwork and fitness. Depending on the ability and age of the student, I will break the lesson down into groundstrokes, volleys, serves and some fitness. I have orange balls for kids under 10 who are not ready to play with yellow balls yet. I read a lot and seek out drills on the internet that I believe are very useful to help my students improve.
