About Me
I started playing tennis when I was 12 after a lesson. I was Captain of my high school tennis team and ball boy for professional tennis tournaments. As an adult, I played in the USTA League at the Advanced level (NTRP 4.5). I also coached my children, reaching the Texas high school state tournament, and started the corporate tennis team at Real Page to play in the Richardson Corporate Challenge tournament in support of the Special Olympics (won team Silver). I recently retired from corporate America and received certification as a Tennis Instructor from the USPTA (now part of RSPA), which includes certifications in Safe Play and first aid.
Teaching Style
My job is to help students have fun hitting tennis balls and enjoy the process of improvement and becoming healthier. I prefer to show more than tell since images is how we first learn and help the student with awareness of how their body works and mind thinks so they can improve their tennis. I stucture the lesson in five parts: 1) introduction, 2) warm up, 3) skill development, 4) game, and 5) wrap up. The five parts are connected by a theme and build upon each other to reinforce learning.
