About Me

Hi, my name is Brian. I'm a Denver Metro Area tennis instructor with a passion for the game. I was a highly ranked junior in Oklahoma and went on to play Division 1 college tennis and now love teaching to game to all types of players from beginners to advanced, from kids to adults. I have been teaching tennis since 2001 both to individuals and groups and love to see people's eyes light up as they hit the ball better and better in my sessions!

Teaching Style

I believe tennis becomes truly fun when your game begins to make sense strategically—when you're not just hitting balls but building a style that fits your personality and strengths. That’s why I teach through the lens of the three core archetypes in tennis strategy:

Dive (Attacker) – For players who thrive on speed and first-strike aggression.

Poke (Neutralizer) – For players who love control, placement, and breaking rhythm.

Brawl (Battler) – For players who grind, outlast, and fight for every point.

Most players are a blend, but discovering your dominant archetype helps shape smarter practice and clearer decision-making during matches. My job is to help you find your identity—and sharpen it.

Lesson Format
My sessions are upbeat, positive, and focused. Each lesson includes a clear purpose, whether technical (e.g., improving your topspin), strategic (e.g., learning to counter a power player), or tactical (e.g., finishing points at the net). We hit a lot of balls to groove changes, but I also pause to help you visualize and understand what we’re working on—because clarity leads to confidence.

I teach fundamentally sound, modern strokes, with emphasis on spin, consistency, and mental toughness. I recommend a two-handed backhand with a slice option for most students but can teach a one-handed backhand as well. Forehands are taught with either an Eastern or Semi-Western grip depending on your goals and style.

Tools I Use
I often incorporate my Spinfire Pro 2 ball machine to isolate patterns and work on problem shots. It gives you clean reps while I stay close to refine your technique. We can tailor the session for high-energy hitting or slow it down for surgical improvements—your pace, your goal.

And if you haven’t read it yet, I encourage all students to explore “The Inner Game of Tennis.” It’s the best foundation I know for mastering the mental side of learning and playing with joy.

If you're looking for a tennis instructor, look no further than Bryan. His expertise as a former pro shines through in his coaching. He’s not only has a deep understanding of tennis technique but also a talent for sharing that knowledge in a way that's easy to understand and apply. He arrives early before every lesson, fully prepared with a variety of equipment (multiple ball types, a ball machine, court markings, etc.) to cater to different skill levels and drills. Beyond his technical skills, Bryan's passion for the sport is infectious. He brings a wealth of tennis wisdom and a sense of fun to every lesson, making it a truly enjoyable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Bryan to anyone wanting to improve their tennis game.

Brian asked me what I was trying to accomplish, and we've worked within the context of what I want. He is very communicative and willing to adapt based on day, location, temperature etc... Enjoying my time!

Brian is great. He’s very willing to work on specific parts of your game, if so desired, but he’s also willing to put forth what he thinks you need to work on most.
He is conscious of not overloading you with too many things to think about all at once. But he is very clear about giving you a few things that you should be thinking about the most.
And he is very on top of scheduling with text messages in plenty of time to set up lesson times. He’s also very flexible when you have to skip a week.
Highly recommended.
