About Me
Hi, my name is Ashley. I have lived in North County San Diego my entire life. My dad taught my sister and I to play tennis at age 4 and 7. I was able to get a full scholarship in tennis at Point Loma Nazarene University. I grew up playing tennis at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego and traveled to LA for tournaments most of my life. I was ranked number 28th as a junior tennis player in Southern California.
I have two beautiful daughters and married my college boyfriend. My husband played on the men's tennis team for Point Loma. I want to share my experience and tennis knowledge with all my clients by imparting a passion for the game, while improving overall skills and strategies for players of all skill levels.
I was a three time All-American NAIA tennis player. I was inducted into Point Loma Nazarene University's Hall of Fame in 2013. I rank fifth in Point Loma History for singles and fourth in doubles.
I look forward to playing tennis with you or your little ones. Tennis is such a great sport that you can play for a life-time. I cannot wait to meet you and spend some time playing in the beautiful San Diego sunshine. I love tennis and am excited to help improve your tennis skills and fitness needs.
Teaching Style
Tennis is a sport that takes lots of focus and lots of practice. I emphasis the importance of being a power player and practicing match like scenarios. In tennis, the emphasis is on the “first step” and quick change-of-direction, early set-up, etc. this gives a tennis player an advantage over their opponent. I tend to focus on each of my clients needs by doing a combination of drilling balls and playing out points. The serve and return are such important components of the game that I like to focus on them as much as possible. Groundstrokes are my specialty especially the forehand. I am able to play out points well since I played at the college level.

Ashley, is one of the best coaches I have had. She challenges me to be a better player, a stronger player and a more consistent player. If I don't remind myself, I forget that she is coaching me. Her instruction style is very settle and gives positive feedback where appropriate.
First lesson with Ashley and I already feel way more confident. As someone who had played tennis in the last century and am returning, I was doing a lot of things incorrectly. I feel like I will have a great base to continue with after my remaining lessons. Thanks Ashley.
Ashley has been working with our 13-year-old son and his friend in shared sessions over the past several months. She is very friendly, relates so well with the boys, and has great drills to not only teach the fundamentals but also how to win points. She is a skilled teacher and the boys are responsive and improving under her instruction and look forward to their lessons. We would highly recommend her!!
My 13-year-old son loves his lessons with Ashley! His skills are constantly improving, and she makes the most of every minute of the lesson. She has a knack for individualizing the lesson for his level and what he needs to work on. She sets high expectations and keeps him motivated to meet them, while making the drills fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend her!
Ashley is absolutely awesome!! My kids (ages 11 and 13) have taken private lessons at La Costa off and on for years and in just a handful of lessons with Ashley they have progressed leaps and bounds! What a difference a great coach makes!! Ashley is so patient and always encouraging! She's so great with the kids - they love her and look forward to playing with her each week (it's so nice to have them look forward to lessons, rather than complain that they don't want to go)!! Thank you Ashley!!! We're SO happy that we found you!
Ashley is great at observing & providing helpful tips regarding areas where you might be lacking or struggling. I knew my weaknesses when we began lessons & she's helped strengthen & improve my game. She is open to what your goals & overall motivation are & thoroughly enjoys just being out on the court. She has a great attitude & is patient as well as supportive when needed. She provides a variety of different drills & learning techniques to help you move as well as work on your overall form & game.
Ashley is a kind, encouraging, fun teacher for my 12 year old son. He loves working with her and feels very comfortable learning from her. He has amazing confidence and tennis skills already after 6 lessons.
