About Me
We will work together so you can be incredible at the game of tennis. I played at the Division I collegiate level at Winston Salem State University. I have taught tennis for 20 years and introduced many children to the game as well as taught high school students and adults. I have experience teaching all levels, from beginners to advanced players. I grew up in North Carolina playing many USTA state events and local junior tournaments and ITA events in college. I am experienced in both competition and instruction for those playing USTA leagues and tournaments or those trying the sport for the first time.
Teaching Style
I teach beginners on up and teach a two-handed backhand, unless you have the strength to control the racquet and hit your backhand one-handed. We will focus on proper form before we work on power. We will work on hitting a level, deep ball and having a good follow through. Good footwork and the strike point on the ball are especially important and you will hear me say often... "move your feet", "turn" and "watch, look at, see" the ball.

Andrew packed a lot into 90 minutes. He has a plan, but seems willing to linger when points are tough and accelerate when skills are successfully demonstrated. He is generally pleasant and fun. He works really hard to create mental models and metaphors to anchor points. He gives feedback on every single ball and squeezes an incredible amount of learning into a short amount of time.
My daughter just had a lesson with Andrew today. He made points about how to grip the tennis racket, keep moving feet, keep eyes on the tennis ball and some other things. He is earnest and pays honest efforts teaching.

Andrew is a great instructor. His teachings increased my ranking and game. He is a technical trainer and can help work on faulty mechanics. My backhand has become so much better and it's shown in my game. Great trainer, I recommend him to everyone. This morning I had my first lesson with Andrew. First, he is adorable (I'm old enough to be his mom so I can say that). I thought a private lesson would be awkward, but it wasn't. The time went quickly, and I learned a lot. I'm feeling hopeful. 😊

Nope! All fees are already included in the price. (tennis court fees, taxes, etc)
Yes, I can travel up to 14 miles to a tennis court in your area.
