About Me
I have had more than 30 years of experience in tennis. I was involved in competitive tennis for several years. I competed in tournaments and I was a part of the Gonzaga College High School tennis team during the championship years of 1985-1987. I have also won and been the finalist in several tournaments. I have taught tennis for more than six years. Several companies have employed me to instruct players. I have also taught for the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, MD. I have taught all ages, but most of my experience and training has been with children and beginners. I am certified in 10 and Under Tennis, 11 through 17 year olds, and Adult Tennis by the Professional Tennis Registry. I have also attended United States Tennis Association trainings on 10 and Under Tennis. Being a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified personal trainer, I give training exercises that help to strengthen players for tennis. For players who want to learn the game for enjoyment, my goal is to introduce the game in a fun and practical way. For players who want to compete, my goal is to structure and build on each lesson to produce tournament champions!
Teaching Style
Working with beginners and juniors is my teaching specialty. I make my sessions fun so that players look forward to the lessons. I start out with a series of exciting warm up drills that focus on the agility, balance, coordination and footwork skills that are the fundamentals of the game. I then focus on skill development for the strokes that I will teach that day. Next, I do cooperative competition and playing points followed by a warm down.

Amaate is an enthusiastic and competent trainer. He was informative and patient. I learned a great deal from him in a handful of lessons. He taught me the basic strokes and the drills to improve them. He made the lessons interesting and fun. Amaate is a great instructor. He is very good with children, very patient. My son enjoys his lessons and is always motivated to practice for the next lesson. Amaate is an excellent instructor who is able to articulate important points of instruction across a variety of areas. In the technical sense, he helped me improve my serve, overhead, and groundstrokes, while also offering useful tips regarding strategy, drills, and visualization.
He is great with kids. My daughter loves him and enjoys her lessons.
