About Me
Hello, my name is Alex and I'm from Barcelona, Spain. I was top 3 in Spain between 11 and 16 ( had the chance to be a part of Spain National junior Davis Cup with Rafael Nadal and Nicolas Almagro ). I started playing ATP tournaments at the age of 15 and at the age of 17 made the finals of the ATP tournament in Caldaro, Italy in 2003. After a back injury, I decided to stop playing on the tour and move to United States to play College tennis. I played 2 years at Laredo Community College where I won two National championships of Junior College. After 2 years teaching around Texas I moved back to Spain for year where i had the chance to train top level junior players. I moved back and played at Fresno Pacific University ( NAIA ) where we won the NAIA National Championship in 2009 and were the finalist in 2010. Taught at Roddick-Lavalle Tennis Academy for 7 months and moved to St. Stephen's Tennis Academy in Austin, Texas for the next 2 years and a half years. I had the chance to work and develop top Super Champ, Champs and ZATS players. I have been working in San Antonio, TX for the last year and a have been teaching all level players from 2.0 to 5.0.
Teaching Style
The emphasis of each lesson depends on the student's level and qualities. I like to mix up different styles of tennis. I utilize hand feeding drills trying to focus on technique, as well as live ball drills to work on consistency and structure of the point. I like to work on volleys and overheads to help students develop good hands. I always like to end the practice spending some quality time working on serves.
