About Me

Hi, my name is Susan. I am a USTA Elite tennis professional and have over 30 years of experience developing player's mental and performance skills. I enjoy working with all levels, youth, juniors and adults both social/recreational players and competitive tournament player's. My lessons are customized for players of all ages and skill levels with a balance of technical development with enjoyment of the game. I offer private, semi-private, group and family lessons for all ages and abilities. I offer hitting work outs/drilling sessions for USTA League teams in combination of mental performance tactics. Successful players love the challenge of preparing, competing and enhancing their technical, strategic and mental skills.

I have the experience/training to help the player reach their goals. Additionally I"m Level II Sport Science Certification from the USTA, Sport Science Specialist Certification from the USPTA High Performance Competitive Player Development Program, and am a LMFT specializing in sport psychology, and Board Certified in Biofeedback. I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA 47 division) Society for Sport, Exercise & Performance Psychology, and a member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP).

Teaching Style

With juniors (10 and above) and adults:

1) Lessons begins with a check-in, what areas the player feels he/she needs or wants to work on.
2) Warm-up, short court, hand-eye warm-up, footwork movement, up, back diagonal.
3) Lesson plan developed around the identified needs of the player. An example may be working on a specific type of shot, forehand/backhand/transition to the net. Or practicing defending against a high ball hitter etc.
4) Play out points and incorporate the areas that student is practicing.

Juniors under 10: Lessons are always geared towards fun, children learn to love playing through developing confidence in their mental and physical skills.

1) Warm up at net, connecting with hand-eye response either ball catching or volleying.
2) Ball throwing/dropping at the service line to warm up strokes, then add footwork movement.
3) Utilize age/ability appropriate USTA Quick Start Tennis drills/games.
