About Me
Hi, my name is Roger. Tennis is my passion in life and my key source of exercise. I have played many different sports and find that tennis provides the most benefit physically and mentally. It can be a great stress reliever as well as an outstanding workout. Through over 40 years of playing tennis, for both fun and competition, I noticed that nothing truly satisfies me the way tennis does. I also enjoy seeing others reap the benefits of tennis.
I have played and won many tournaments at the junior and adult levels. I have played USTA team tennis and advanced at the Regional Finals. I have coached friends and children (my own included).
Teaching Style
Depending on the students' playing level, I prefer to have them hit balls in real-life playing situations. While it is good to hit as many forehands/backhands as possible, it benefits the player to hit in playing situations where they have to move about and still hit a good ball in order to build confidence to do the same in a competitive situation. I like to focus on footwork to ensure proper set up for each shot. For more experienced players, I like to build confidence in that shot so turn it from being a liability to a strength.
