Olivia D.

Hey everyone! My name is Olivia. I grew up in Marietta, Georgia. My mom introduced me to tennis when I was seven years old. Prior to that I did dance and ice skating. Fun fact my dad actually wanted me to be a golfer, but we saw how that turned out! I kept pursuing my interest throughout high school and college. During my time at North Cobb High School, I had the pleasure of being apart of the Girl's Varsity Tennis team while my mom was my head coach. In 2020, I committed to play Division II tennis at Coker University in a small town called Hartsville, South Carolina. I played tennis for four years while earning my Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies concentrating in psychology and physical education. In the course of my collegiate career I made some of the strongest connections with my professors and teammates. This August I look forward to attend the University of West Georgia online and complete my Master's degree in Sports Management.

My teaching style includes multiple demonstrations. This would include prior to drills or while the strategy is being played I like to explain why there was a mistake or mishap so next time there can be a better execution or outcome. I also believe that positive and negative reinforcement helps develop a player's thinking and actions. How I like to structure my lessons include a warm up with the individual or group of people so I can get a feel of how I would approach different people or a specific stroke or strategy. I prefer to do drills that focus on how the stroke or tactic can be used offensively even if the person or group struggles. I want to see progress but also fun. I try to not make it so boring, but I also want my players to know that mistakes are okay and that we learn from them more than we think.
