About Me
My name is Nicholas and I started playing tennis when I was 5 years old. I have played tennis competitively for 16 years and I have been coaching for about 4 years. My best national USTA ranking in boys 18's was 214 and I placed 5th in state my junior year of high school. I played two years of Division I college tennis and I am currently a senior at Illinois State University studying exercise science. I enjoy teaching the skill that I've mastered over the years to players that are trying to improve their game.
Teaching Style
Being an exercise science major, I like to start my lessons with a warmup. I like to start with mini tennis and slowly move back to the baseline. I then like to work on the net game, so some volleys and overheads. The majority of the lesson is geared towards whatever the student wants to improve. If the student is having trouble with volleys then we will emphasize on hitting more volleys. My teaching specialty is that I can help a student improve any shot they want to work on. Finally, I always finish my lessons with working on serves and returns because these are such important parts of everyone's game.
