About Me

I am a USPTA certified tennis professional residing in Philadelphia and looking for work throughout the Tri-State Area. I grew up competing in singles and doubles at an elite level in the highly competitive So. California tennis district of the USTA, but since 2010, I have refocused my attention from playing, to my passion for teaching.

Previous to teaching on the East Coast, I worked as the Director for Junior Development for five years at the San Dieguito Tennis Club in Encinitas, CA. At the San Dieguito Tennis Club, I created and managed a successful junior program from the ground up. When I started in July of 2014, there were only 5 junior players enrolled in the summer camps and no program established. Although the club had significant adult programming, I embraced the position and developed a successful client-base in San Diego’s highly competitive and over-saturated market. Through extensive networking and self-made marketing, I was able to generate new memberships, increase junior clinic and camp attendance, and create more overall club participation. By Summer of 2016, attendance at tennis camps were at max capacity, with over 100 kids enrolled in the program that summer and in the successive three summers. To assist with a rising client base, and the demand of a growing program, I hired and managed numerous assistant coaches, supplied them with daily lesson plans, and maintained a healthy student to coach ratio within the program.

In 2019, I moved with my wife to Philadelphia. Based on my coaching success in junior development while teaching in San Diego, I was hired at Radnor Valley Country Club to oversee and improve the tennis department as a Senior Tennis Professional. Through experience, I have worked with students of all ages and levels in private lessons, clinics, camps, and club events, and established daily lesson plans for adult and junior clinics and camps. For the past 18 months, my responsibilities have included booking courts for members and non-members, while promoting the tennis program as a whole. Additionally, I have helped to create and host various club events while continuously promoting membership and participation in the program.

During the school year, I provided daily after-school clinics and classes for various age groups and skill levels, while also scheduling private lessons with both adult and junior players. I created and managed multiple Junior Team Tennis teams for players at different ages and traveled with them to compete throughout the Greater San Diego area. In August of 2018, as our Director of Tennis was stepping down, I was tasked with organizing and directing the 23rd Annual San Dieguito Jr. Open Championships tournament, a Level 5 USTA sanctioned event.

Teaching Style

I generally teach a modern game but adapt my teaching as the game continues to modernize and change. I believe in continuing my own education as a coach and that I can always get better, just like my students.

I approach every student differently, depending on what they would like to get out of a lesson and the game of tennis. Whether it be an avenue of socializing, or a competitive outlet, I use various tactics to help them achieve whatever heights they set their minds to.

As a coach, I stress the importance of goal oriented instruction that will lead to measurable results and the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable on-court behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence. Having worked with well known coaches and students on both ends of the country, I have learned that while tennis education is important, establishing life-long philosophies in work ethic, developing team relationships, and enjoying time spent on the tennis court is essential to the long term satisfaction a client deserves.
