About Me
Hi, my name is Matthew. I am a native Texan who grew up in Fort Worth. I grew up playing all sports from the age of 5. I picked up tennis later in junior high, and played high school Tennis for Meadowbrook Christian School and went on to win the state title in doubles in '93. I played collegiate NCAA tennis for Howard Payne University in Brownwood Texas, as well as Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth.
Began my teaching career shortly after college.
Arlington Tennis Center - 2yrs
Woodhaven Country Club - 2 yrs
Four Seasons Resort Dallas - 20yrs (2000-Present)
Teaching Style
My style of teaching varies depending on what the specific needs of the client present. Beginners need to start with basics and fundamentals, such as footwork, proper setup and preparation, how to hold the racquet for various shots, understanding the various shots, scoring, intro to serve, overall terminology.
Intermediate players may just need "time on the court" and work on consistency. Tennis is a game of repetition and muscle memory. The more you play, the faster you will learn. With this level of player, it is critical to make sure they are developing their strokes correctly, and not developing bad habits. Again, muscle memory and repetition, making sure that the client is learning in the correct fashion.
Advanced players may have a specific need, or work on a significant shot, weapon, or just want a great workout.
