About Me

Hi! My name is Kyle, I am 24 and I am currently a student at Midwestern University pursuing my doctorate of physical therapy. I am originally from Antioch, Illinois where I was an all-state singles player in high school. Following high school, I played division 3 tennis at Augustana College (IL), where I was largely a doubles specialist. I mostly saw playing time at 1 or 2 doubles and 4-6 singles. In my time at Augustana, my team won the conference title twice and we competed at the DIII NCAA tournament twice, where we won the first round both times to finish top 32 in DIII. Following my college career, I was an assistant coach at Augustana where I gained extensive coaching experience under a great coaching staff. Now that my playing days are over, I enjoy passing along my knowledge and helping other players achieve their goals, whether its learning the basic fundamentals or trying to play at a high level!

Teaching Style

I structure my lessons around the goals of the player and then apply their goals to the strategy of the game. I love to breakdown tennis strategically — it makes a lesson much more meaningful when there is an application in mind and the player knows the situation where a certain shot is appropriate. Part of the challenge of the game is that you can have the most beautiful and efficient groundstrokes, but it does not matter if your shot selection is not appropriate for the given situation. I really place an emphasis on the many different situations on the court, and do my best to breakdown the selection of shots that are appropriate in those given situations.
