About Me

Hi, my name is Jon. I am a USPTA Elite pro and former nationally ranked and 4-year all-conference college player at the University of Mary Washington. I have over 15 years teaching experience with all ages and skill levels. I have successfully taught children as young as 5 and people in their 80’s, total beginners to Division 1 college players. In addition, I have coached at the college and high school level. I have also coached several USTA league teams.

Locally, I have taught at ACAC Midlothian and the Westwood Club in Richmond. Prior to moving to the area, I taught at Midtown Athletic (now Windy Hill) in Atlanta and clubs in upstate New York.

For experienced players, I will help you improve your stroke technique, court coverage, footwork, shot selection and match strategy. We can address a specific stroke or problem, or just work on overall improvement. For newer players, I will teach you the basics and patiently help you to learn the game at your own pace. For all, I hope to provide an enjoyable experience that leads to a love of the game and all its challenges. Get fit, have fun, improve your game.

I teach regularly in the Richmond/Midlothian area and am available for areas nearby.

Teaching Style

I emphasize court coverage, balance and movement. There is no one correct way to hit the ball, but you must get to the ball and be balanced to maintain consistency. I want my students to enjoy learning and playing the game while working to improve.
