About Me
Hi There! I have been playing tennis for over 10 years with 2 years of experience teaching. I love teaching because it allows me to apply what I have learned from my mentors to help others improve their game. My background in tennis includes varsity tennis at Cranston High School West, two years of membership at Rally Point Racquet Club and active participation in UTR, USTA and other local tournaments! Outside of tennis I currently work for Johnson & Johnson as a New Product Development Engineer. My other hobbies include soccer, golf and spending time outdoors.
Teaching Style
My teaching style varies depending on the individual. Adapting and finding different and creative ways to teach depending on the individual is important as not every person is the same. Throughout my lessons I like to focus in on the "why" by breaking down the biomechanics and science behind each stroke. I explain it in a way that is very easy to understand which for me has been very successful.
A typical lesson structure can be seen as follows:
1.) Introduction - Understanding the person, their background / experience, their goals, what they need to improve on from their perspective, etc.
2.) Hitting - Allows me to get a feel of the individual's skillset based off what I am seeing
3.) Weaknesses - Breakdown the strokes the individual does not excel at, establish a foundation and start building up the fundamentals
4.) Strengths - Practice the strokes this individual excels at, builds up confidence, improve
5.) Game - I like to close with a game / fun activity. Tennis can be frustrating but this reminds everyone why we play, because we love the sport and it is fun!
I like to sprinkle in serving, volleys, overheads, etc. but it all depends on the individual, their skillset and their goals!
