Hello! My name is Genevieve. I have been playing tennis since I was 7-years-old (13 years). I grew up playing tennis 5 times a week with my parents, sister, or friends. But as soon as I started playing, I fell in love with the sport and wanted to become more serious about it. I took lessons at Klahaya Swim and Tennis Club, Harbor Square Athletic Club, and Central Park Tennis Club. I was a varsity singles player for all four years of high school and the team captain for the last two. In between tennis seasons I played in 18 and under division matches for USTA. During those last two years of HS I was a substitute tennis coach. But the summer after I graduated (2015) I got hired as an assistant coach for Marysville Parks and Recreation. As of this year (2017) I am the head coach. I coach ages 4 and up! Although I don't play tennis competitively anymore, it is something I am very passionate about. It has taught me much more than just the skill. It has taught me patience, good sportsmanship, and how to have fun whether I win or lose. Tennis has made my life better and I want to help other people have the same experience.

With beginners, I emphasize technique (such as how to hold a racket), good footwork, and the basic strokes of tennis (serve, groundstrokes, volleys.) For intermediate, I continue those aspects, introduce new types of strokes (top spin, back spin, slice serves) but also teach them how the actual game of tennis is played. With advanced players I challenge them mentally and physically. They would play a lot of matches (with me or another person in the lesson) in order to learn strategy.

Footwork drills will be a part of every lesson. But of course there are always games to help motivate clients, and let them have fun while learning!
