Hello, my name is David Dewing, and I am the Head Tennis Coach for both the girls' and boys' tennis teams at Thousand Oaks High School. I’ve been playing tennis for the past five years, and my passion and drive for the sport continue to motivate me daily. As a coach, my goal is to help my players grow in their tennis journey while also advancing my own skills to be the best coach and player I can be.

Tennis has had a significant impact on my life—it’s not only a sport I enjoy but also a way to meet new people and make a positive difference in the lives of my students. I love teaching tennis because it allows me to assess each player's game and help them make the necessary adjustments to improve and grow. I’m proud to live in Thousand Oaks and be an active part of the local tennis community.

As a coach, I focus on observing each player to understand their natural movements and tendencies when approaching the ball. I believe it’s important to build on these instincts by introducing strong, reliable fundamentals that will enhance their game. My approach is to guide players step by step, reinforcing these fundamentals through repetition. This process helps them develop consistent form they can rely on during matches and practice. By gradually building their skills, I aim to give players a solid foundation that supports long-term improvement. Using video will help give feed back on what a player looks like compared to what a player feels like. This is an excellent tool for improving your game.
