About Me
Hi! My name is Courtney and I am 22 years old. I have been a tennis coach for around 7 years and recently graduated college with a degree in Kinesiology: Exercise and Movement Science with a certificate in Athletic Healthcare. I have been playing tennis for 17 years, progressing into highly competitive tournament play, high school varsity tennis, and USTA team tennis. Additionally, I played on a D1 college club tennis team at the University of Wisconsin, where I traveled around with my team to play in competitive tournaments. I also served as the president for the club team for the school year of 2023-2024. I started my tennis coaching career as an assistant coach at Lake Country Athletic and Tennis Club. About 5 years ago I began as a Lead Instructor for the Oconomowoc Recreation Department where I serve as a head instructor for classes of all age ranges and all playing levels. Additionally, I have been working for the USTA as a site coordinator, team manager, and coach for 5 years and am certified in Safe Play. Lastly, I have been coaching private lessons for 4 years. I love my job as a tennis coach and love working with children or adults. I am known to be flexible, adaptable, and responsible with great communication skills. I am an outgoing, friendly person with a very energetic personality and I love helping everyone as much as I can!
Teaching Style
My teaching style, emphasis, and lesson structure is very flexible and adaptable. I design and teach my lessons to cater to the individual needs and desires of the students. Because of my competitive play experience and years of teaching experience, I am able to specialize in a range of things including skills, match play/competition, strategy, mental toughness, and more. I am continuously re-evaluating my students and adjust my teaching methods and plans to accommodate for their individual skill level and needs. Additionally, I like to discuss and goal set with my students to make sure they get out of the lesson what they really want to achieve. I place an emphasis on giving continuous verbal feedback throughout every drill and try to make the lessons fun, while still maximizing learning.
