About Me

Cole is a USPTA certified private tennis instructor located in West LA with over 6 years of teaching experience.

Since he was 12, Cole has competed in the game of tennis.

Growing up in the Bay Area, Cole had access to some of the country's most respected coaches, including the late Ken Flach (former no.1 ATP doubles player, winner of four Grand Slam men’s doubles titles, and Gold Medalist in the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games).

In collegiate competitive play, Cole served as a captain and #1 singles, #1 doubles for Grinnell College in the MWC and became the college’s #8 best player on record.

Cole has taught tennis at esteemed institutions such as IMG/Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, UC Berkeley, and UCLA, where he was Co-Director of the UCLA Summer Athletics Program in 2019. He also co-organized the Northern California Special Olympics Games (tennis) in May of each year (2006-2013).

In addition to teaching private and group lessons at all levels, Cole works with the local grassroots organization, Santa Monica Tennis Collective, providing instruction and skill development for junior level players.

Teaching Style

A typical lesson will start out with a basic warm up including jogging and dynamic stretching. Then, depending on the needs of the client, we will practice specific motor function drills including agility ladders, sprints, medicine ball work, racquet coordination, and hand-eye coordination. The rest of the lesson will involve learning technique/strategy through basic hitting, drills, target and ball placement, and serving practice.
