About Me
I’ve been a college coach for 5 years. I have experience coaching men and women for three years at the division 1 level as an assistant at Colgate University, Division 1 Women’s tennis assistant at Gonzaga, and volunteer assistant coach at USC for the women’s team. I have experience working with tennis whiz, EKT program for developing young players (red dot, orange, and green) I coach adults, and high level juniors.
I am originally from Northern Ca, I have played tennis for 21 years and received a full ride tennis scholarship to Syracuse University. I played on the pro circuit the summer before college as an amateur, and 2 years in college. Before college I was a 5-star recruit, top 8 in Ca and ranked no. 1 in every age division in northern ca. Ranked in the top 40 in the country before entering college according to tennis recruiting.
Teaching Style
I focus on technique, mental toughness, and fitness. I enjoy breaking down the different strokes in the game and finding ways to connect to each person I am coaching. I understand that everyone learns differently, and I thoroughly enjoy finding out how to help each person I coach become better.
I want my clients to enjoy what they do and have fun, but at the same time I do take what I do seriously and my mentality on court reflects that. Depending on who I am teaching I adjust how intense a lesson is, especially if I am working with young children who need to have the lesson much lighter for them to be engaged.
How I structure my lessons really depends on the level of who I am coaching. Once I start to build a schedule with a client, I always have a lesson plan written out. I start with a dynamic warm-up (footwork/athletic skills) And then I use the plan I wrote for the lesson that day. If you are a beginner, I am going to start by hand feeding you foreheads and backhands to see your level. I’ll have a good sense of what level you are by those two shots alone. I like to focus on one or two things in a lesson only.
