About Me
Hi, my name is Arthur. I'm the head coach at Heritage Tennis. I provide lessons for students just starting out in the game and low intermediate players and also have two former college players (Division 1 - both male and female - we're very luck to have them) that teach at my private court in Andover, MA for intermediate and advanced players.
Teaching Style
I specialize in new students and look to develop the skills necessary to play tennis well. I generally begin my lessons with a warm-up/stretch, then a verbal explanation of how to to hold the racquet, the ready position, how to prepare for the ball (feet pointing in the right direction, elbow high, swing path, and follow-through) and then move into some visual demonstrations of basic strokes (forehand, backhand, volley) using the appropriate type of ball for the player. I then have the player move through some basic drills to practice the strokes I have verbally described and visually demonstrated. Depending upon the progress of the player I move through the basic strokes and generally wait a bit to teach the serve which is a more challenging activity for the beginner.
