Our goal at MyTennisLessons has always been to make it as easy as possible for students to find a private tennis coach. Unfortunately, finding a private tennis coach in Sacramento isn’t always as straightforward a we believe it should be. We took the time to research the local market and compare the offers available to our own. We did so by calling facilities, speaking with front desks, staff, and tennis directors, and documenting the booking process from a student perspective. Here are our findings.

Del Norte calls themselves a “neighborhood club”. Most members take advantage of all options available such as group exercise classes, access to a pool, as well as pickleball and tennis courts.
Rio Del Oro Sports Club is a private club that requires a monthly fee. They offers a wide range of fitness options, that includes tennis. They specialize in training with personal trainers, small group training, and group exercise classes but they do offer private 1-on-1 tennis lessons.
Johnson Ranch, also a part of the Spare Time Sports network, has 25 tennis courts and 12 coaches but does require a monthly fee on top of the price of private tennis lessons.
Spare Time has indoor courts for tennis lessons, which is rare for Sacramento. You do, however, have to belong to one of Spare Times’s sports clubs to access their courts. They specifically state, “available exclusively to Spare Time Sports Club members”.
Several of these Sacramento locations did not return calls after multiple attempts. Others were not accepting new students or had suspended programs at the time of our research.
Across the facilities we researched, a few issues came up frequently.
