About Me
I am an expert tennis coach in the United States and Peru, where I am from. I am bilingual in Spanish and English. I have a great ability to work with children as well as adults at different levels, too., but prefer to work with beginners and children. I have been playing tennis for 20 years and am very knowledgable about the principals and practice of modern tennis and techniques. I have a lot of patience and am very passionate about tennis and helping others to improve their game. Classes can be individual or in a group, but no more than four students and include 15 minutes of physical training (footwork) to practice tennis.
Besides other tools described above, I have:
A Lobster ball machine
Sport tee swing stand
Ace Training recomended by Nick Bolletieri
Serve doctor
Foam, orange, green dot and pressureless balls
Hand racquet, sport ladder, wind weighted cones and some other minor tools.
Teaching Style
I emphasize the correct technique in each one of the tennis shots through continuous repetitions ; the rest is done by the memory of the body know as muscle memory. I also believe that it is very important to have good movement within the court, and improve evenly the forehand, backhand, volley, smash and serve.

Latest Reviews
As an advanced beginner, I needed some improvement on my technique. Leonardo was a great fit and very helpful in helping to correct these mistakes and was very patient along the way, allowing me to re-learn the muscle memory with the correct mechanics. Definitely recommend for beginners or players who need to fine tune their technique!
The kids knew absolutely nothing about tennis and now (day 5) they can actually return the ball.
The first lesson was all about form, how to stand, hold the racket and swing.
The next two lessons were eye and hand co-ordination with learning ‘how long is my arm with a racket’, and what does the ball look like when my racket meets the moving ball.
Lesson 5 - the kids hitting forehand and backhand from a tee-post and also from gently served balls- balls hand served slowly to where it’s fairly easy to reach out and hit the ball over the net.
Today is lesson 6.
Both kids have great form, They can return balls that are close, and they are now learning how to scoot their feet work to get into good swing range of any ball.
They are now returning about 50% of the easy balls over the net.
I think they are going great.
I’m so glad I got 12 lessons ! That would be the minimum for experiencing a good foundation of form
Leonardo is so patient and he really know how to teach the complete beginner
He is very disciplined, he love teach
Leonardo has been great with my son. He focuses on proper technique and form and really works in preparing younger players for long term tennis success. We have already seen great improvement in the few weeks we have been working with him. Highly recommend.
Leonardo has worked with my son, a high school sophomore in the Intermediate/Advance skill level, for five lessons.
He's really helped my son focus on the proper mechanics, form and footwork for all of his strokes. I've noticed more depth on his shots as part of overall improvement.
For me, Leonardo was a great fit. I play often, but wasn’t finding perspective for me to make improvements from on my ground strokes and serve. In just two lessons, he helped me get more kick on my second serve and better timing on my ground strokes. Still a work in progress, but I already see improvement!
Leo is very patient with Sami , she is enjoying tennis thanks to his expertise and knowledge of tennis :)
We are glad we found MyTennisLessons!
