About Me

Hi, my name is Cole. I currently work in public relations at the National Association of Realtors. I have been playing tennis since the age of 6. As a junior player, I played USTA tournaments and attended Nike tennis camps at the University of Illinois. As a high school tennis player in Texas, I won my 2004 conference tournament in doubles and went on to play college tennis for four years at Luther College. I taught tennis for my local YMCA for three summers and also was the assistant pro at a tennis center in Michigan for four summers. There I taught private, semi-private and group lessons five days a week. I play tennis regularly in the DC-area. I am a life long tennis fan and enjoy teaching for all ages and levels.

Teaching Style

I like to help players work on areas of their tennis game they feel needs improvement in order to reach their playing goals. I emphasize having fun on the tennis court and like a very structured lesson based on player interest. I am here to help you have fun and get better!

Cole is a great instructor. He has helped me a ton with my serve. He breaks things down in a way that's easy to understand for a beginner, but obviously he's an awesome player who knows a ton about the game. Cole is also a great guy, really calm and patient, which is incredibly important when you're someone like me who can get frustrated easy when working on your game haha. The best part about him as a coach is probably how he works around your needs, like I have a one-handed backhand, and he was cool working with me on that because I wasn't trying to go pro or anything, I'm just playing for fun. I've had other coaches who try to change every little thing because they're rigid in their approach and I feel like Cole will personalize everything to the student's needs which is awesome!

I was really impressed at how much he changed my forehand timing. Gave me a quick fix that taught me to prep quicker which in turn made my shots harder and faster. Very patient and helpful. Would definitely recommend him to beginners and intermediates. My son loved taking from him too!

I had a lesson with Cole this past weekend. He's an excellent instructor and is very personable. Some instructors can be cold and uninterested but Cole seemed to really enjoy helping me out! His knowledge of the game really impressed me. He was able to come up with good drills to really focus on some of my weaknesses. I will definitely be going back for more!
