About Me

Hi, my name is Raymond. I became a USTA Certified Instructor in 1963 and taught at Roger Williams Park for 14 Years. I have also been hired by the Providence Journal to give lessons at various schools in Providence to promote tennis with young people. I have been certified as a high school tennis coach in Rhode Island and coached at Warwick Veterans High School in 2016. I have also coached college players. I have worked at professional tournaments as a linesman, interviewer and analyst. I have also served as the Head equipment manager for the athletic dept. at Brown University for 10 years and vice president of the "Athletic equipment managers assoc". I was a cartographer for the Army Map Service, U.S. Dept. of Defense for many years. I am widowed and have grown children, grandchrildren and one brand new Great Grandchild.

Teaching Style

Using the latest teaching skills and tools my lessons are structured to produce the maximum kenetic results on ground strokes, serves and net play . My goal is for the student to have sound basics in all phases of the game. These lessons are effective for beginners thru 4.0 players of all ages as well as successfully training young, future competitive players. While passing on my 50 +years of experience I constantly study new training techniques and attend seminars so that my students have the best chance for a "positive , winning experience". I also feature my new "K.E.P.S. Method for beginners to achieves optimum effectiveness thru simplicity while also teaching strategies and tactics to 3.0 players and up on how to give yourself more time and take time from your opponent. My "kenetic serve" technique is incorporated in lessons. I also teach this system separately.

Student Feedback

Raymond provides clear instruction and has a lot of useful techniques and strategy that he systematically and progressively incorporates into each lesson. His years of experience really come through with a great deal of insight. I improved a lot more than I expected in 6 sessions. He is a fun guy, with a strengths-based-approach, and able to adjust to the level of intensity that you are looking for.

Ray is a great experienced tennis teacher. His lessons helped improve my technique, consistency in hitting shots, good serves. After my tennis lessons with Ray, I observed huge improvement in my game. I am consistently winning games with my friends with whom last year I was struggling to play with.
Ray also made sure that my basics are good before moving to intermediate and expert level techniques. He also taught me few game strategies.
More than teacher, he is very friendly, very patient and accommodating.

I strongly recommend you to get tennis lessons from Ray even if you are beginner or expert level, you will still learn so much from his 50 years great experience.

He is an excellent coach! My daughter is very happy with with him! I can see the tremendous amount of progress in her even after 2-3 lessons with him!

I had a wonderful experience with Ray. His years of experience and love of the game were clearly evident. He really tailored the lessons to exactly what I was looking for. My game improved far more than I had expected in 6 one-hour lessons and I had great fun doing it. Ray has my highest recommendation.

Coach Ray was amazing with my boys (ages 6, 8, & 11). The lessons were productive yet fun and age appropriate. It's obvious that he enjoys being a coach. My boys learned a great deal and are very excited to continue. I would recommend Coach Ray to any parent seeking tennis lessons for their children. I'm inspired to take lessons after watching him with my children today🙂

Knowledgeable, energetic, and so much fun! Our lessons with Ray are the highlight of our week! I think a few more lessons and we’ll be ready to go pro.

RAQUET BACK! BEND YOUR KNEES! Ray truly observes each student and breaks down their technique and form then communicates changes they need to make in a way that are easy to understand and implement. And as always, lessons are full of fun and laughter!
