About Me

Certified PTR and USPTA Professional, played Division I Tennis, USTA Ranked junior. 25+ years playing experience, 15+ years coaching/teaching experience. Currently training a top-10 nationally ranked junior, along with other nationally ranked juniors in the top 100. Specializing in advanced techniques and performance, my lessons provide a tailored step by step process to bring along players of all levels, ages, and talents. Trained at the country's most premier tennis academies; IMG, Van Der Meer and Sea Pines. Ongoing studies to stay up to date with latest teaching methods and techniques to help students progress more efficiently and effectively.

Teaching Style

My specialty is technique and form. I make sure my students understand exactly what they are doing right/wrong, so they can correct it on their own, and have the confidence to hit on command. I do an excellent job of breaking things down and keeping things simple. I structure lessons with small tasks to help build confidence and consistency. With over 10 years of development from world class tennis academies, my lessons help students see a dramatic improvement within the very first lesson.

Student Feedback

Philip is an excellent instructor - very patient and encouraging and willing to go the extra mile of making sure you improve your skills. Philip helped me become a much more confident tennis player and made sure I got enough practice in the areas I was weak at. If you're looking to improve your tennis game with an instructor who's not only patient, but knowledgeable and has an encouraging teaching style, highly recommend you take lessons with Philip. Not only does he have passion for the game but he has a passion for seeing people become better at it and that is definitely something you wish you can see in all instructors. You'll keep wanting to play tennis after taking a few.

Philip is an excellent coach. I've been working with other coaches in the past. But Philip stands out due to his ability to identify my issues and correct them. He is also knowledgeable, patient and easy to communicate with.

Nick - August 5, 2019

Knowledgeable, hard working, and patient. Great experience.

Doug W. - July 31, 2015

I have had a very good experience with Philip so far. He communicates very well with you and gives you tips according to your game. And you can also ask him to work on specific aspects of your game.

Arun W. - August 8, 2015

I am 28 and I had never played tennis before starting lessons with Philip. I was nervous about attempting to learn a new sport as a *not very athletic* adult. However, after 3 out of the 10 lessons I already felt I wanted to write a review. Philip is extremely knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. His level of experience is obvious and he instructs with ease. I would confidently recommend Philip to anyone who wants to learn tennis or any current tennis player wanting to learn technique and improve their game.

Philip is the best instructor I could have expected. Four classes back I was holding the tennis racket first time in my life but Philip made it easier with the dedication he pays toward teaching the right techniques at the right time in the course. Philip also advised a few techniques/moves to practice off the court, which I practice at home and has made a big difference on the court. I am thoroughly learning and enjoying the course.

Best tennis lesson ver and i've had many lessons being 65 years old. Philip was on time we discussed my expectations and what I wanted to accomplish. A very fast-moving lesson and workout. No standing around, Phil kept me moving and worked on all the strokes, He gave me tips on everything from foot work, using the core, grip, letting the racket do the work, stoke dynamics, practiced return of serve, Lots of great tips on how to hit the ball, follow through, preparation, practicing the serve from near the net and moving back to the baseline. I was hitting the ball harder and harder as the lesson progressed. We practiced volleys, choking up on the racket first, and slowly coming back down to the normal grip position. All I can say is that Phil is phenomenal. I live in Colorado otherwise I would use your service all the time. Your service and Phil are a great find.

Philip is a nice coach. He has good techniques. He is good at identifying problems. He is patient in explaining the issue and finding the right solution. He is also very encouraging. I am an intermediate beginner, and I recommend him to all beginners and intermediate players.

Crystal G. - September 14, 2015

We've had two lessons with Phillip. So far, he first gave my two kids lesson and then we joined in. Phillip has specific drills planned out to work on specific skills. He is easy to work with and shows enthusiasm. We feel very comfortable with him. We are signing up for more lessons.

My children really enjoy his class.

Philip is an outstanding coach who really understands the mechanics of each stroke, as well as the mental aspects of the game that contribute to consistency and top performance. As an advanced player with collegiate experience, Philip has helped me find confidence in my game that has allowed me to play free and loose. He has an amazing ability to tweak each stroke so you maximize power and consistency.

I am a USTA tennis player with 18 years of Tennis playing experience .Philip was my son’s 2nd tennis coach via My Tennis lessons and I would like to acknowledge the coaching done by Philip and he is an excellent coach.

1. Philip encourages and motivates the kids during his coaching.
2. Philip works out a schedule based on player’s convenience.
3. Philip starts with drills which help the students to have ball control , positioning ,Movement & stroke accuracy.
4. Philip develops the competition skill for kids to get into league and tournaments .
5. Last but not the least , Philip gives the daily feedback to develop kid’s Tennis Learning .

I would strongly recommend having him as your coach for your kids .

Premsingh R. - October 25, 2015

We were beginners in tennis and Philip has been very helpful to get us up to speed at some basic playing skills - from not being able to play at all to owning some basic skill to play with each other quickly.
He is very patient as well.

Linda L. - November 10, 2015

I took few lessons with Philip and want to say that he is an excellent couch. It was always easy to communicate with him, he answered all my questions, paid attention to details during the training and acted very professionally.

Dmitrii L. - May 29, 2016

I am very glad to have found Phil for my tennis lessons. I think I have noticeably improved after several lessons so far. He has helped me in all aspects of my game, especially my weakest parts (backhand and volleys). He has devised certain drills everytime which are very instructional and useful. He has excellent ideas on how to improve my game and can communicate them very effectively. We also play some games for instructional value as well as for fun which makes it more interesting. He is a very good player (as well as a very nice guy) and makes me work hard to win a point. I get a nice enjoyable workout every time.

Brian L. - May 26, 2016

Philip is not only a professional player but also a great coach. He is very patient and accommodating. Since I started as a beginner and didn't have time to practice during the weekdays, I usually forgot what I was taught in the last weekend and kept making similar mistakes, but Philip was very patient and showed me those basic movements again and again. Also, he would try as hard as he can to find the best time slot for me to take the lesson. It was really great experiences to get my Tennis training with Philip in the past couple weeks!

Jin T. - June 17, 2016

Philip is extremely patient and encouraging throughout our lessons. The learning experience is super fun and we made rapid progress just after a few lessons as beginners. He is also very passionate about teaching tennis, and genuinely wants his students to improve. He was willing to be flexible with our schedule, and tailored the lessons to meet our goals. Overall, an excellent excellent instructor! We will 200% recommend him for anyone who wants to learn tennis!

Vicky L. - June 24, 2016

Philip is a great coach. He taught me the basics step by step including how to play with correct form. Even though I couldn't play well he was very patient. He always encouraged me and increased my motivation. I really enjoy playing tennis.

Chiaki I. - June 25, 2016

Phillip is the best tennis coach I’ve ever worked with so far.

- Phillip is very professional – he has recently played tournaments and working with someone of that caliber is a totally different experience than a guy who has been teaching 50 lessons per week for 10 years.

- Very patient with beginners like myself, and he helped me develop my skills at my own pace. It took Phillip just minutes to find the major flaw in my forehand. He fixed that from the bottom up – the approach seemed unrelated but it did work! As I developed, he started challenging me step by step. We used to count how many rounds I could play without making mistakes. It’s like you pushing yourself moving forward and Phillip was just there guiding you to stay on the right track. This approach is actually super powerful for learners as it helps you find your own problems and practice on them

Highly recommended!

Jay H. - July 9, 2016

Phil is absolutely the best coach you can ever have! He was very informative and provided great guidance on my Technique. As someone who has barely touched a racket before, I was amazed how quickly Phil was able to get me on speed. And He was able to adapt and adjust the methods of coaching when something didn't work. I really enjoy the lessons with him and would highly recommend him to anyone!

Perry D. - July 17, 2016

My first tennis lessons and Philip broke it down so well into achievable parts while still learning at a very fast pace. I am eagerly loping forward to the rest of my classes and to continue playing tennis in the future as I think I will really enjoy the sport.

Smitha P. - August 14, 2016

Excellent experience!

Lin - July 28, 2017

Philip is a motivating and knowledgeable coach who provides just the right balance of encouragement and discipline. I hadn’t picked up a racquet in 20 years, and I appreciate his patience as I find my groove again. I would recommend Philip to adults or kids, beginner or seasoned.
