About Me
I played at College of Dupage and I have been playing for 15 years, I coached full time clinics at Downrers Grove Swim and Racket Club as well as at Park Districts, and have been teaching 6 years, helped at C.O.D. I have helped Notre Dame player, Tom O' Toole of Lombard Park District coach.
Teaching Style
I think that court position is the most important part of tennis. I specialize in strategy. I like to focus on improving the serve, no matter what level you play at. I teach topspin, serve and volley, and all court strategy. Movement is also crucial, so I teach proper footwork. Like most instructors I believe in the fundamentals through playing. Playing a lot will always develop skills. A typical lesson will consist of determining stroke style issues, footwork issues, and working on a particular shot, then playing out full points. If you are really having problems with a shot, it's not too much power, but slow down your approach so you can see where you are going wrong and correct this right away.

Michael was extremely positive and encouraging. My 14yr old son really enjoyed the lesson and is looking forward to his next session.
Mike is very thorough and patient. This pays off as you have plenty of time to do drills and work on necessary skills. He is open to requests and questions and is knowledgeable in his response. I highly recommend him.
Mike is awesome. I haven't played in years and he was fun and made me want to continue lessons with him. I totally recommend Mike.
Very professional, meets our goal.
Mike is a very patient instructor that quickly creates a rapport with his pupils. This fuels a positive, enthusiastic, and motivated environment. Mike is ideal for younger tennis players like my son.
Zane & Zak
Mike has been great with my 13 yr old son, who is starting to learn to play tennis. Thanks Mike!
Michael made a great impression when working with my daughter, a beginner to advanced beginner, and in just her first lesson, gave her very specific technical direction on grip, swing, and ball contact strategy that translated to observable improvement in under two hours. His instructional demeanor and method inspires confidence, he knows what he is doing, what to do for the player, and it shows. He seems to have a real eye for what will specifically benefit the player the most. We are looking to forward to her continued work with him!
Michael has continued to do a great job for my daughter, as we are just past the halfway point of our lesson package. Her developmental growth is apparent in accuracy, technique, and improved consistency. There has been a lot of attention to serves, rallying and match strategy, and backhand - which were all weaknesses for my daughter at the onset of lessons. Importantly, her confidence has increased as well. Michael seems very experienced in terms of how to most optimally give critique and feedback along with praise and affirmation (important for teenagers). These lessons have been a solid investment and I can enthusiastically recommend Michael to others seeking these same outcomes.
