About Me

Hi, my name Mariya. I was born in Ukraine and lived in Edison, New Jersey most of my life. I have played tennis since I was 9-years-old. I was first singles JV in my high school and I would have been varsity level had I not had a serious injury my Junior year of high school which prohibited me to play for 2 months. I was also in the top 50 in the state of New Jersey under USTA. I was trained under a professional Russian tennis coach Sergey Ivanovich, where discipline and strong will is required. I have taken his teachings and training into my lessons but with a little less aggressiveness and more fun. Due to circumstances in my life, I had to stop playing tennis and start moving around to finish my education as a Middle School Special Ed/Science Teacher. My passion is working with children and making the most out of life.

Teaching Style

Lessons are typically an hour to two hours long. We start with a warm up of laps, jumping jacks, jump ropes, squats and suicides, stretching is required before and after each lesson. After the body warm up, we hit the ball back and forth for a few minutes than corner to corner. Each lesson is dynamic and different but with the same goal, practicing what the weakness of the student is. Lessons are set up as games,drills,warm-ups and cool downs according to the level of physical ability of each student.
