About Me
I was a 4 year varsity letterman for the University of Wisconsin. I have a strong competitive background which includes competing in open tournaments and on the Northern California Professional Circuit. I have been teaching for 20+ years, all ages and all levels. My latest work experience involved the position of assistant tennis director for a large East Bay country club in the San Francisco Bay region. I held this position for 17 years. Besides instructing all levels of lessons, my responsibilities included junior program development and administration. In addition, I hold a P-1 USPTA certification. I just completed the USTA National Coaches workshop, providing me insight on training and instructing elite junior players.
Teaching Style
I emphasize the basics beginning with grips and a three step process on both forehand and backhand groundstrokes. As students progress, I add a loop to their straight backswing. Eventually, especially with the forehand side, students progressing to the intermediate and above levels will learn to hit off the back leg from a semi-open stance. Learning to hit underspin and topspin will come with student progression and the capability to switch between grips.

Student Feedback
I enjoyed tennis lessons with Kent so much! He is the best tennis pro I've ever met. And believe me I took lot of lessons with other pros. He is not only a good teacher but also great person to talk. I was playing with him a lot. He showed me that you can have a lot of fun while playing. After 3 weeks of lessons I was a much better tennis player. He was always on time. During the breaks we were talking a lot. He helped me with my future plans. I never felt like he was someone I just met. I strongly recommend lessons with him!
Kent demonstrated technique, watched and corrected mine. He was motivating, encouraging and patient. My lesson was informative, positive and fun.
